If you run a small or medium sized business, chances are that you perhaps need the use of a truck from time to time. The frequency of your truck use will depend entirely on the size and type of business that you run. Trucks come in all different shapes and sizes. This ranges from the normal household pickup truck to the larger industrial models that particularly transport companies use.
The uses of a truck are multiple. Whether you are looking to haul large pieces of lumber, have longer than usual loads or perhaps need to transport your whole crew, a truck is a simple solution to these. On top of that, they are renowned for being able to do some serious work and some serious play. It therefore has many benefits for recreational use also!

But perhaps you don’t need me to ramble on about the merits of owning a truck for personal or business use. The simple fact is that they are great tools to have, but can sometimes cost an arm and a leg.
In our current economic climate, credit is hard to come by for individuals and small business. It therefore requires us to be more creative in finding ways to finance our vehicle purchases, or alternatively look for cheaper distribution outlets to buy used trucks.
You don’t need to purchase a new vehicle when you can, for a fraction of the cost, get great value when you buy a used truck. In my experience there is simply no better place to look for these than at government vehicle auctions. It’s a well established fact that the government conduct auctions frequently for surplus and seized goods. These auctions are absolute ‘Quality, cheap vehicle heaven’ if you’re looking to buy used trucks. The goods available are vast, and the prices are astonishingly low – what more are you looking for!?!?
There are a large number of great auction sites that will help you access exactly the type of truck models you are looking for. At the click of a button you’ll be able to find just the right one for you.
So in order to make sure that you buy quality, I have compiled also a brief checklist of things to look for before you go ahead with the purchase. They are:
- Run a CARFAX report on the truck
- Verify all legalities, such as clean title, registration number, etc
- Check the Engine and Oil (use a mechanic if you don’t have the expertise)
- Inspect the Air Conditioning and Heater
- Check the transmission
- Test the trucks’ power steering
- Check that the windows are working
If you follow these easy steps you will have confirmed that the car is in excellent condition. Bidding on the truck is easily done. All you need to ensure is that you don’t pay a single cent more than its fair market value.
Buying at auctions are a great way to save some cash and may just be the solution for you looking to buy used trucks!
